Tarot Yes or No — How to Get Clear Answers

April 2025 · 4 min read · Elena Sokolova

Tarot isn't built for binary answers — but you can absolutely use it for yes/no questions. The key is knowing which cards lean which way, and how to handle ambiguity when it appears.

The Simple Method

Shuffle your deck while holding a clear yes/no question. Pull a single card. Upright = generally yes. Reversed = generally no. Then look at the card's nature to qualify the answer.

✅ Strong YES cards

  • The Sun
  • The Star
  • The World
  • Ace of Cups
  • Ace of Pentacles
  • Ten of Pentacles
  • Six of Wands
  • The Chariot

❌ Strong NO cards

  • The Tower
  • Five of Cups
  • Ten of Swords
  • Five of Pentacles
  • The Devil
  • Three of Swords
  • Nine of Swords
  • Five of Wands

⚠️ "Not yet" cards

  • The Moon
  • The Hanged Man
  • Two of Swords
  • Seven of Cups
  • The Hermit

⚡ Depends on context

  • Death (transformation)
  • Judgement (turning point)
  • Wheel of Fortune (change)
  • The Fool (new start)

Tips for Better Yes/No Readings

Ask specific questions. "Should I take this job?" works better than "Will things get better?" The more defined the question, the more useful the answer.

Don't ask the same question repeatedly hoping for a different answer. If you got The Tower, sit with it.
